The YaJagoff! Podcast - All about Pittsburgh

All about the cool stuff going on in Pittsburgh! There are a lot of podcasts, or PAWDcasts as you might say in Pittsburghese, but none this focused on what’s happening in Pittsburgh. Co-hosts John Chamberlin and Rachael Rennebeck talk with guests about food, entertainment, current events and, of course, Jagoffs! This weekly podcast is based on the Pittsburgh humor blog, YaJagoff.com.

Jun 3, 2019

Summary: An event near and dear to our hearts with heart and liver-friendly meals...count the jagoffs IN! We invited Olga George of KDKA & @OGCooking to update us on her healthy eats, a few liver disease survivors, plus we brought Mike Y to learn the art of looping—after all looping while cooking is even more of an art.  Amazing chefs, Community Liver Alliance partners, the hostess with the mostess, Rachel Carlson from Yelp, and more joined the jagoffery

Music: Mike Why of OneMouthMusic.com and JustAlliance

QUESTION OF THE DAY: To go along with the Steel Chef Challenge theme, who is your superhero?

SPONSOR: Rohrich Honda wants to get to know YOUR neighborhood, so be sure to weigh in on where to put the Honda H on da....fill in the blank for your neighborhood and follow us for perks like a free oil change or other special deals.  Look for neighborhood celebrations with Rohrich all summer and experience the Rohrich Advantage. As always, visit www.rohrich.com.

Susan MasartisSusan Masartis, Executive Director of the Community Liver Alliance (CLA)is the head queen in charge of all collaborative initiatives and missions of the organization. She gives insights of the CLA and can’t control the grinning ear-to-ear with the growth of the Steel Chef Challenge 2019 at the Wyndham Grand

Amit Tevar, MD: Event Chairman and UPMC Transplant Surgeon joins the podcast to shine a light on proper liver health, give pro advice from his expertise, and to showcase how the CLA impacts the greater Pittsburgh region for the better.

Robert Scott: One of Dr. Tevar’s own patients, Robert Scott, graces the podcast to tell his courageous story of becoming a thriving survivor after a successful liver transplant. He talks leaps of faith as well as miracles that he experienced first-hand while receiving the best care from his team of doctors. Scott encompasses the title of “hero” that the CLA helps everyday.

Aaron Martin: Board Member to the CLA and WPXI Reporter Aaron Martin jumps on the podcast to advocate for the CLA while being the wine-and-dining emcee of everyone’s enjoyment for the evening.

Rachel Carlson: Rachel Carlson of Yelp Pittsburgh joins the podcast in order to shine a light on the evening festivities as well as her upcoming Yelp’s Ice Cream Social on July 13th held at the Children’s Museum. While events and to-dos are topics of interest with Rachel, she does reflect on the perks and not-so-shiny realities of motherhood in hilarious honesty.

Olga George: Olga George of KDKA-TV talks food and flare on the podcast with her natural ability of using all her senses in creating a masterpiece of a meal. Known as the Caribbean Queen Cook, @OGCooking on Instagram showcases fine dishes in rich heritage that stem from family traditions and passions of exciting one’s taste buds.

Michael Thomas: Michael Thomas, one of CLA’s liver heroes, talks about his three-year recovery date as well as his time in care while waiting for his miracle to happen. Now surrounded by his loving family, his wife and daughter help restart life with an evening celebrating at the Wyndham Grand.

Just Alliance and Mike Why: Though the two men may be experts on gas station sushi, the musical geniuses bring vocal looping into the next level of entertainment. Just Alliance and OneMouthMusic use electronic sound waves while incorporating bodily beats and sounds that add an acapella twist. Catch them at PhillTer International Music Festival and the Three Rivers Arts Festival 2019 or listen to Just Alliance’s newest EP that is solely produced from the sounds of one man’s voice.
