It got even better when Byron Nash played his guitar right there in studio and Danielle Spinola talked to us about her local tea shop WITHOUT our pinkies out!

Lee Terbosic’s Big Escape, Whiskey and the Imaginarium Escape Room

We had an awesome time at the new escape room, The Imaginarium, in Harmarville! You know it has to be a fantastic experience when Bricolage and ScareHouse are involved in designing something together. It’s not scary at all! Jeff and Rod, some of the creative team join us in the Magician’s Room. And, where else would we interview Pittsburgh’s favorite magician, Lee Terbosic? He’s going to suspend himself above Wood Street and Liberty Avenue in downtown Pittsburgh to celebrate a very “Pittsburgh” anniversary of Harry Houdini. Then, Black Craft Spirits guy, and Washington County native, Bobby Schubenski talks about whiskey, being a reality TV star and changing diapers.

YaJagoff! Podcast - SHOW NOTES: Episode 42, Lee Terbosic’s Big Escape, Whiskey and the Imaginarium Escape Room

Music: The Stickers, “Summer Time “

01:04 We all had a late night so… (we were on the Pink Carpet of the David Alan Fashion Show - which raised over $14K for the cancer treatment and research – the night before recording this podcast).

04:34 Jeff Carpenter and Rod Scwhartz talk about the The Imaginarium. It’s a cooperative venture escape room between some of Pittsburgh’s most creative brains, including The Bricolage Theater and The ScareHouse. You have one hour to solve the escape path in this totally submersive experience.

11:47 Bobby Schubenski left his Washington County home for at age 17 to play music. Today, he runs Black Craft Spirits worldwide, with his fiancé Rosa Mendes, he’s a reality TV star on the WWE Total Divas show and he’s crushin’ it as a new dad! Thanks to Bobby and Black Craft for sponsoring this episode.

22:09 Magician Lee Terbosic is about to do something totally awesome. He’s going to suspend himself more than 80 feet above the intersection of Liberty and Wood Streets, November 6th, and escape from a strait jacket! He will be celebrating Harry Houdini’s 100th anniversary. Harry did the same escape in the same place 100 years ago to the day!

36:41 Big thanks to Cathy from Frosted Envy for making pumpkin spice cupcakes for all of us! Seriously… we did not dunk them in the Black Craft Whiskey but, we could have! They made for a great breakfast!

Leslie Gray, The Steel City Medium (from a Haunted Restaurant)

Get ready for the wildest conversation on our podcast yet. Leslie Gray, The Steel City Medium, is with us talking about her skills in relating to the dead, helping out with crime investigations and how she honed her craft! If there was a goose bump emoji, we’d insert it here! We were at Monte Cello’s Italian Restaurant on Babcock Boulevard in Ross Township. Why there? Because it’s haunted! Lisa Shalcosky, the Manager, tells us about “Robert” the in-house ghost plus the wings, chicken, pasta, pizza and wraps that we had!

Music: Mace Ballard, “1701”

001:04 Comedian John Knight (and Presidential Candidate for the Jagoffs Party because #HesNotTheOtherTwo) is the substitute co-host. He loves ghosts! So he went with Ghosts N’at to tour the Carrie Furnace site. He wrote a blog post about it.

03:49 First up is Lisa Schalcosky, Manager of the Monte Cello’s. Who is “Robert?” Oh, just ghost of a guy that died there years ago and now gets Lisa paper towels in the restroom! Yep!

09:18 Tasha from The Food Tasters jumps in about the food AND she gets the first reading from Leslie Gray. What’s Leslie’s suggestion for Tasha’s future career? Plus, an exclusive Food Tasters Tip about one of the off-menu items.

17:48 Leslie Gray, The Steel City Medium… We can’t possibly write all of the stuff we talked about but seeing heaven and seeing dead people is a good start, huh?

41:12 Questions from the audience about aliens, the Big Bang Theory, seeing people in dreams and heaven and…

55:07 Big thanks to all of the people who came out, Leslie Gray, Lisa and the super kind staff at Monte Cello’s on Babcock Boulevard.

We ask everyone what they would “pumpkin spice” that isn’t already. Oh, and who is everyone? Nationally touring comic, Bobby Slayton, “The Pitbull of Comedy” calls in from the Pittsburgh Improv and the Pittsburgh Podcast Network’s own astrologer, Judi Vitale, explains Mercury in Retrograde, her new book and if the Amish have to worry about Mercury in Retrograde since they don’t have any computers. Then, an event that you have to sign up for if you’re in to awesome pumpkin carving, Guts Pittsburgh is a “Make A Wish” carving competition. Finally, John Knight announces his VP running mate winner for the Jagoffs Party POTUS election.

LISTEN to the Podcast show right here below or on iTunes, Apple Podcasts, Google Play Music, Stitcher Radio, Soundcloud, Overcast, Pocket Casts, and Tunein Radio via the “Pittsburgh Podcast Network” channel.

SHOW NOTES: Ep. 39
Episode Music: Bastard Bearded Irishmen, “Pirates of Three Rivers”

00:55 Everything is pumpkin spiced… what’s left to spice? And we now have our own astrologer! See what our last podcast, “Podcast Under the Stars” did for us?

05:35 Comedian Bobby Slayton calls in and weighs in on the pumpkin spice issue. He’s known as the Pitbull of Comedy for good reason! In this day of political correctness, he’s still doing his thing. Thanks to the Pittsburgh Improv! Make sure you follow their schedule.

17:40 Judi Vitale is a nationally known Astrologer. She’s done books, national publications and, now the icing on her career cake… the YaJagoff Podcast! Oh, yeah…. She has a new book out now, “Live in Spirit, Love Your Life”. Here’s her website to get an appointment: Journeys Of Life. She answers the Mercury in Retrograde question, like, why does it screw up our computers and coffee machines and what it does to the Amish horses!

32:05 Jon and Anastasia from www.GutsPittsburgh.com are in the studio, which is probably the coolest pumpkin carving contest you’ll ever see. Go check their website while you’re listening and then get your team together to go carve on 10/15/2016 at Penn Brewery to raise funds for Greater Pennsylvania Make-A-Wish!

41:45 Comedian John Knight, who writes the “What Aggravates Me” blog post every Saturday on YaJagoff.com, is running for POTUS under the Jagoffs Party because, “He’s not the other two!” He has selected a VP running mate out of all of the entries. And the winner is… (you’ll have to listen) and they get cigars from Smoke Stack Pittsburgh, 2 passes to the new Imaginarium Escape Room and 4 tickets to the Arcade Comedy Theater!

47:02 The Sonoma Grille has a new menu for the Fall! Thanks to The Food Tasters and Fame 15 Creative for the invite to try out the menu. Recommendation: go get the KALE… no kidding! Even if you live on donuts and chocolate milk, you will love the kale. The Sonoma Grille is located in the Cultural District in Downtown Pittsburgh at 947 Penn Avenue. Visit The Food Tasters Instagram to see what we tasted!

Don’t know what we did to deserve this but…. “wash-out rain” was predicted for our “Podcast under the Stars” at The Embers in Moon Township. We took the chance and set up our equipment outside and BOOM…free and clear!!! On top of that, we ate a special yinzer menu specially made by Food By Lyndsey. John Knight updated us on his run for POTUS, the famous Dr. Audrey Guskey of Duquesne University came on to talk about how to live cheap in Pittsburgh and Patsy Trello, owner of The Embers, talks about this beautiful patio space.

YaJagoff! Podcast - SHOW NOTES: Episode 38 – The Podcast Under the Stars

Episode Music: “We Won’t” by Pig Pen Theater

00:55 We are under the stars.. wait….. more like, we are not under the rain! Just some clouds. Don’t forget! Next week we are recording at former Pen’s goalie, Ken Wregget’s 31 Sports Bar-Grille in Bridgeville. But first, we try to get Patsy Trello to sing Frank Sinatra.

04:42 Patsy Trello, owner of The Embers Meeting Place and Trello Cioccolato in Moon Township practices his Joe Pesci impersonation and tells us how he got from “Upper St. McKee’s Rocks” to Moon Township.

08:42 The Food Tasters is on with our chef for the night, Lyndsey from Food by Lyndsey. She brought us Iron City Candied Bacon, Ham BBQ Pop Tarts, homemade Wedding Soup, Haluski with Dumplings , Pittsburgh Steak Salad On A Stick and mini Strawberry Pretzel Jello Salads!

On top of that, Tasha gave us Reese’s Cups for…. .well, you’ll have to listen (no cheating).

19:35 Dr. Audrey Guskey, Pittsburgh consumer trends expert…. You’ve seen her on all of the news channels, heard her on Pittsburgh radio and her own website, www.DrAudreyGuskey.com. What’s up with this Jekyll and Hyde economy in Pittsburgh? And, what are the Nordstrom’s Rack and Macy’s Backstage? Wait, even more importantly, why do Pittsburghers put an “s” on the end of every retail outlet name like Aldi’s?

34:17 John Knight, Jagoffs Party POTUS candidate, is updating his candidacy info. Mexican border issues, his health records and his recent viral video showing him passing out and being helped into a van! Don’t forget, he still needs a VP running mate. You can win some cool prizes. Get details. Why? Because #HesNotTheOtherTwo

OK, so we’re a little late on a back to school tips but, if you’re looking for how to be frugal throughout the school year, how to search for colleges and sort through the financial aid pile of acronyms, this is for you! Oh, and if you don’t care about back to school tips, you’ll appreciate the PLLs (Professional Lunch Ladies) who steam-rolled their way into the studio. Finally, we have an anonymous school teacher from Seattle who tells us stories about Parent Jagoffs!

Episode Music: "Take Me (acoustic)" by The Clarks from the Feathers and Bones album

01:00 We are back in the studio for the first time in weeks. A record crowd was expected at the Pitt vs Penn State Football game, 70,000, and pretty sure we had that many people in the studio for this episode!

03:30 PLLs, somehow, two Professional Lunch Ladies barged into the studio. Quite honestly, they’re nuts but…..

07:10 First up, Dr. Nancy Berk, podcaster, author, humorist, Parade Magazine columnist, stand-up comedian and mom. She wrote a book, College Bound and Gagged, on how to NOT go insane over choosing, touring and paying for colleges!

17:40 Our anonymous teacher, a real teacher, comes on to tell us about parents being Jagoffs.

25:00 What about battling the fashion issue with sending kids back to school. And, there’s a new secret to the FASFA rules that could make a parent’s life so much less stressful around tax time when filling out those damned forms. Femme, from the www.FemmeFrugality.com blog is with us. Craig’s all ears knowing that he has 3 boys that will have to go through this process!

37:15 The PLLs, Professional Lunch Ladies are back. They have a long tradition of lunch lady work in their past. They want us to eat healthy… but, of course, we’re eating donuts and cupcakes and drinking chocolate milk!

45:15 Don’t forget about the John Knight running for POTUS! He’s having a contest to see who wants to be his VP running mate under the #Jagoffs Party. You can win some cool prizes. Get details.

Visit The Food Tasters website for information about our (live studio audience!) podcast recording at The Embers in Moon Township on Saturday, September 17th – you’re invited!

Big thanks to PCC (Professional Cake Creator) Cathy Burnheimer of Frosted Envy for the chocolate chip cookie dough cupcakes. Yeah, that’s what we said! Cupcakes filled with cookie dough!!
